Strengths and watch-outs

Strengths

  • Backed by Bosch Home Comfort Group, which says the 2025 deal took it past 25,000 associates and 33 plants worldwide
  • Current US airHome models use R-32 (ENERGY STAR listings with 2026 availability dates)
  • ENERGY STAR lists airHome 600, 800 and Multi Pro combinations as cold-climate

Watch-outs

  • Ownership changed in 2025: Bosch now runs the business and uses the Hitachi name under licence; confirm who honours the warranty and supplies parts
  • 'Hitachi' units come from two platforms (airHome, certified under Johnson Controls; airCore700 and 'Hi UNI', certified by Qingdao Hisense Hitachi), so ask which one a quote covers
  • No North American warranty terms could be verified
  • R-410A Hitachi 'Hi UNI' models were still ENERGY STAR-listed for the US and Canada in June 2026; confirm the refrigerant

Which rebates Hitachi models fit

Every model in these tables is ENERGY STAR certified, which is the federal equipment rule for the Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates where your state runs them. 56 Hitachi outdoor models also meet ENERGY STAR Cold Climate, which several utility programs require. The 25C tax credit ended for heat pumps placed in service after December 31, 2025.
