Warranty
Registration: 5-year parts and 7-year compressor (5 years plus 2 additional). The 10-year term also requires installation by an LG-trained installer to LG's instructions and registration within 60 days of startup.
Labour: None: the warranty “does not cover charges for labor or any other costs”
Strengths and watch-outs
Strengths
- LGRED° models: 100% rated heating capacity down to 5°F and continuous operation to -13°F (LG)
- Whole-home options: ENERGY STAR pairs LG's universal outdoor units with LG air handlers, A-coils and LG gas furnaces, and LG's residential warranty also covers its A-coils and gas furnaces
- R-32 across LG's US split systems (“LG is shifting to R-32 refrigerant for our split systems”; all US-market LG listings in ENERGY STAR are R-32)
- Cold-climate development: LG's Residential Cold Climate Heat Pump won a 2025 AHR Innovation Award; LG says it keeps full heating capacity at -13°F and runs at 70% capacity at -31°F
Watch-outs
- The US residential warranty is “VALID IN THE UNITED STATES” only; Canadian terms were not published on any page we could load
- 10-year terms need an LG-trained installer and registration within 60 days of startup; otherwise 5-year parts / 7-year compressor
- Coverage is void if the system was bought online from a source not authorized by LG
- Canada: ENERGY STAR lists many R-410A LG models (e.g. LUU, LMU, LSU, LAU series) certified for the Canadian market in 2026; confirm the refrigerant on Canadian quotes
Which rebates LG models fit
Every model in these tables is ENERGY STAR certified, which is the federal equipment rule for the Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates where your state runs them. 64 LG outdoor models also meet ENERGY STAR Cold Climate, which several utility programs require. The 25C tax credit ended for heat pumps placed in service after December 31, 2025.
