HOT2000
Also called: HOT2000 software · HOT2000 model
NRCan's energy modelling software that registered energy advisors use to calculate a home's EnerGuide rating and upgrade savings.
What it means
The advisor enters the home's dimensions, insulation, windows, airtightness from the blower door test and mechanical systems, and HOT2000 estimates annual energy use and the effect of upgrades. The resulting file is submitted to NRCan.
Why it matters in an audit
The quality of the data entered decides how accurate your rating and projected savings are, so a thorough site visit matters.
