Warranty

In Canada 12-year parts, 12-year compressor

Registration: Same certificates cover units installed in Canada: 5-year parts if not registered within 60 days. Québec residents need not register (DH9VS spec sheet), and Daikin product pages state “Quebec Warranty of Good Working Order: 6 Years.”

Labour: None: Daikin does not pay labour

Warranty terms (daikincomfort.com) ↗

For comparison: in the US 12-year parts, 12-year compressor

Parts cover drops to 5 years. Online registration within 60 days is needed for the 12-year parts term and, on DH9VS/DH7VS/DH6VS/DH7TC, a 12-year unit replacement term (6 years on DH5SE/DH4SE, none on DH4SQ; unit replacement also requires annual maintenance). Daikin's DH9VS spec sheet says online registration is not required in California, Florida or Québec.

Strengths and watch-outs

Strengths

  • R-32 across current Daikin home heat pumps in North America (Daikin statement; ENERGY STAR lists current Daikin models as R-32)
  • 12-year parts warranty on ductless and ducted models when registered within 60 days, plus a 12-year unit replacement term on premium ducted models (DH9VS, DH7VS, DH6VS, DH7TC)
  • Cold-climate options in every format: FIT AURORA ducted (ENERGY STAR Cold Climate; met the DOE CCHP Challenge), AURORA ductless (100% at 5°F, runs to -13°F), ALTHERMA 3 H HT air-to-water (to -18°F)

Watch-outs

  • 60-day online registration window; unregistered systems fall to 5-year parts
  • No warranty on Daikin equipment bought online unless a dealer installs it to code (Daikin warranty page)
  • Unit replacement cover needs annual maintenance and differs by model (12, 6 or none)
  • Canada: ENERGY STAR still lists R-410A Daikin models (e.g. DZ6VS, DZ7TC, DZ5SE, OTERRA R-410A) certified in 2026, mostly for the Canadian market; Daikin also says it “does not guarantee the availability” of replacement parts or repair services for products in Quebec

Which rebates Daikin models fit

56 Daikin outdoor models meet the cold-climate numbers NRCan publishes for its Eligible Products List (COP of at least 1.8 at −15°C at full output, 70% of rated capacity, a variable-speed compressor) on their ENERGY STAR ratings. That list decides Ontario's Home Renovation Savings rebate, Manitoba's, New Brunswick's, Yukon's and Newfoundland and Labrador's, and the federal National Heat Pump Rebate expected in early 2027. Check the exact pairing on NRCan's list ↗.

53 models meet ENERGY STAR Cold Climate, which earns Quebec's higher LogisVert rate. BC uses its own qualified list. Rebate rules by province:
