Service organization (SO)
Also called: service organizations · service organisation · licensed service organization · EnerGuide service organization
A company licensed by NRCan to deliver EnerGuide evaluations; it employs or contracts registered energy advisors and books your visit.
What it means
Service organizations handle scheduling, quality control and file submission, and official EnerGuide evaluations are done only through them. Some programs limit which ones you can use: Ontario's HRSP emails you a list of approved service organizations for your area, and the follow-up evaluation must be done by the same one.
Why it matters in an audit
Booking through the right service organization, and using the same one for your follow-up, keeps your rebate file valid.
