Warranty

In Canada 10-year parts, 10-year compressor

Registration: 60 months (5 years) parts and 84 months (7 years) compressor. The 10-year term (12 years for an approved FS combination) needs a MESCA Authorized (MEQ-trained) contractor and registration within 90 days. Quebec residents are not required to register.

Labour: None: labour is excluded

Warranty terms (cdn.agilitycms.com) ↗

For comparison: in the US 10-year parts, 10-year compressor

Base 5-year parts and 7-year compressor. The 10-year term needs an owner-occupied home and registration within 90 days at registermehvac.com; 12 years if a Diamond Contractor installs and registers it. Residents of California, Connecticut, Florida and Georgia need not register.

Strengths and watch-outs

Strengths

  • Longest registered US warranty in this group: 12-year parts and compressor when a Diamond Contractor installs and registers within 90 days (statement effective Feb 9, 2026)
  • Deep cold-climate ratings: US H2i wall units rated 100% capacity at 5°F with operation to -22°F; Canadian FX rated 100% at -23°C (maker literature)
  • Full residential range under one maker: ductless, SMART MULTI multi-zone, ducted air handlers, intelli-HEAT dual fuel and, from 2026, ecodan air-to-water
  • US residential lineup moved to R-454B in 2025 (April 2025 release; ENERGY STAR R-454B listings for FX, GX, HX, JX, SUZ/PUZ and SMART MULTI)

Watch-outs

  • 90-day registration window in both countries; unregistered systems get 5-year parts / 7-year compressor (exempt: CA, CT, FL, GA residents in the US; Quebec residents in Canada)
  • Entry HM/WR/HX/WX wall-mount series have a separate US warranty capped at 10 years, with no 12-year Diamond tier (statement effective June 1, 2026)
  • No labour cover from the maker; the US warranty transfers only with a home sale in Florida, Texas or Georgia, and the Canadian warranty is not transferable
  • Co-branded Trane / Mitsubishi Electric and American Standard / Mitsubishi Electric units appear in ENERGY STAR only as R-410A listings, and R-410A PUMY 'S-Series' units were still certified for Canada in 2026: confirm the refrigerant on any quote

Which rebates Mitsubishi Electric models fit

145 Mitsubishi Electric outdoor models meet the cold-climate numbers NRCan publishes for its Eligible Products List (COP of at least 1.8 at −15°C at full output, 70% of rated capacity, a variable-speed compressor) on their ENERGY STAR ratings. That list decides Ontario's Home Renovation Savings rebate, Manitoba's, New Brunswick's, Yukon's and Newfoundland and Labrador's, and the federal National Heat Pump Rebate expected in early 2027. Check the exact pairing on NRCan's list ↗.

152 models meet ENERGY STAR Cold Climate, which earns Quebec's higher LogisVert rate. BC uses its own qualified list. Rebate rules by province:
