BPI certification
Also called: BPI · Building Performance Institute · BPI certified · BPI Energy Auditor · BPI Building Analyst · Building Analyst
Credentials from the Building Performance Institute showing a professional is trained to test and assess homes, such as Energy Auditor.
What it means
BPI certifications cover data collection, diagnostic testing such as blower door, duct leakage, combustion safety and indoor air quality, and turning results into an energy model and scope of work. They require exams and documented experience, and Energy Auditor holders renew every five years. BPI also publishes standards such as ANSI/BPI-1100 (home energy auditing) and ANSI/BPI-1200 (basic analysis of buildings).
