National Heat Pump Rebate (announced)
Also called: federal heat pump rebate
A federal heat pump rebate announced in October 2026: $2,000, or up to $10,000 for low- to median-income households, with an online portal due in early 2027.
What it means
The federal government says the rebate will cover efficient electric heat pumps from a list it will publish, with no energy audit required before or after installation. It is retroactive: eligible heat pumps installed from November 1, 2026 can be claimed once the portal opens in early 2027. The detailed eligibility rules and income test had not been published when this entry was checked.
Why it matters in an audit
If you're replacing a heating system, keep the receipts and model details for any heat pump installed from November 1, 2026, so you can apply once the portal opens.
