NEEP cold-climate heat pump list
Also called: NEEP · NEEP list · NEEP ccASHP list · ccASHP list · Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships · NEEP-listed
A widely used list of cold-climate air-source heat pumps, kept by Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships, with tested performance down to 5°F (−15°C).
What it means
Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships (NEEP) publishes the Cold Climate Air Source Heat Pump Specification and a product list of models that meet it; version 4.0 has applied since January 1, 2023. Listings give capacity and efficiency at low outdoor temperatures, which contractors use for sizing, and some rebate programs require a listed model. A version 5.0 proposed in July 2026 would rely on ENERGY STAR Cold Climate certification instead, but NEEP still shows it as coming, with no effective date.
Why it matters in an audit
If a rebate requires a NEEP-listed or cold-climate model, check the exact indoor and outdoor pairing on the list before you sign.
