City programs in Gatineau

Programme de remplacement de systèmes de chauffage au mazout

City of Gatineau subsidy of 75% of the cost of replacing an oil heating system (forced air or hot water, not dual-energy) with an all-electric system, up to $3,500 per building. Residential buildings up to 20 units; an RBQ-licensed general contractor must remove the system and tank. The work must not have received a subsidy from another program for the same work. Registration accepted any time until funds run out (By-law 876-2020).

Programme Rénovation résidentielle de la Ville de Gatineau (PRRG)

City-funded renovation subsidy (By-law 985-2025) for residential buildings built before 1985 (single-family homes assessed at $210,000 or less) in eligible sectors. Covers repair, restoration or replacement work approved by an inspector. The City's energy-efficiency page says it can add complementary aid for certain work. Owner pays 50% of eligible costs; maximum from $6,250 (studio) to $15,000 (3-bedroom) per unit and $25,960 to $30,960 per building. About a two-year waitlist and a $500 + tax file-opening fee. Rénovation Québec (PRQ) in Gatineau was suspended by Québec in spring 2025.
