The audit question

Audit required

Audit-first by design: a government-assigned evaluator performs the home evaluation ($150 + tax, refunded except the tax when you receive assistance), and the rebates flow from the work it documents. You don't choose the advisor — the program assigns one.

Who qualifies

Quebec homeowners. Book through the Rénoclimat line; the program assigns an authorized evaluator to your file. Envelope measures (insulation, airtightness, doors/windows) are Rénoclimat's territory — equipment lives with Hydro-Québec's LogisVert.

How to apply, step by step

  1. Register with Rénoclimat by phone or online — the program assigns an authorized evaluator to your home ($150 + tax, paid within 30 days of the visit).

  2. Get the evaluation and its report: your home's rating plus the ranked envelope measures.

  3. Complete eligible work (insulation, air sealing, doors/windows) with proper invoices.

  4. Book the follow-up evaluation — the first post-retrofit evaluation is free — to document the improvement and trigger the rebates, which also refund the $150.

  5. Pair the plan with LogisVert for heat pumps and equipment — no audit needed on that side.

The gotchas

  • You can't shop evaluators — the government assigns one of the authorized firms, so book early; wait times move with season.
  • Keep the two-program split straight: claiming a heat pump under Rénoclimat is the classic wasted-paperwork mistake — that's LogisVert's file.
  • The follow-up evaluation is what pays — skipping it after the work leaves rebates on the table.

Worth knowing

Quebec splits the file in two: Rénoclimat = envelope (audit required), LogisVert = equipment (no audit). Plan both together — insulate and air-seal under Rénoclimat first, then size the LogisVert heat pump to the improved house. A flooding-adaptation component joined the program October 1, 2026. If you do the work and get assistance, the first evaluation ends up costing only the tax, about $22.46.

Common questions

Is Rénoclimat still active, and what does it cost to start?

Active — verified against the Quebec government's pages on October 2, 2026. The pre-retrofit evaluation costs $150 plus tax, with an evaluator assigned by the program rather than chosen by you. The $150 is reimbursed when Rénoclimat assistance is granted for eligible work (the tax isn't), and the first post-retrofit evaluation is free, so participants who do the work pay about $22.46.

What's the difference between Rénoclimat and LogisVert?

Rénoclimat is the province's audit-linked envelope program: insulation, air sealing, doors and windows, with pre/post evaluations. LogisVert is Hydro-Québec's equipment program — heat pumps, appliances, solar — with no audit required. A serious retrofit uses both, in that order.

What changed on October 1, 2026?

A flooding-adaptation component joined Rénoclimat — support for making homes more flood-resilient alongside the energy measures. Details are on the official page; if you're in a flood-mapped area, ask when you register.
