Durham Greener Homes Loan

Durham Region local improvement charge loan (Durham Greener Homes): up to $125,000 at 2% interest, fixed 15-year repayment on the property tax bill, with up to 50% of eligible funds available up front. At least 80% must go to energy-efficiency upgrades (insulation, windows, air sealing, heat pumps, heat pump water heaters, solar, batteries); up to 20% can go to other eligible items (flood/weather resilience, electrical, EV charging, EnerGuide evaluation and permit costs). Durham Greener Homes coaching, Weather-ready Home Assessment and vHEAT

Free services for Durham Region residents: a Greener Homes Coach (unbiased advice on retrofits, rebates and financing), a free Weather-ready Home Assessment (extreme heat and cold, flooding and wind vulnerabilities), and vHEAT, an online virtual home energy assessment tool. Delivered by Windfall Ecology Centre for the Region.

Deep Retrofit Rebate (Whitby)

For Whitby residents only, administered by Durham Greener Homes: $2,500 for cutting modelled energy use by at least 50% between pre- and post-retrofit EnerGuide evaluations, plus $50 per extra percentage point, up to $5,000 at 100%. Minimum project cost $30,000 before tax; stacks with other rebates, including Home Renovation Savings; enrol before the work (pre-retrofit evaluation on or after April 28, 2022). Whitby's separate Weather-ready rebate is fully subscribed.
