The audit question
No audit required
No audit required — grants apply directly to eligible equipment. An EnerGuide or Rénoclimat evaluation is still the smart first step so the heat pump gets sized to an improved envelope, not the leaky one.
Who qualifies
Owners of houses, condos, multiplexes and residential buildings in Quebec supplied by Hydro-Québec's grid or an off-grid, municipal or co-operative system. Tenants can claim the induction range and heat-pump dryer grants. The roof insulation and caulking grant is for houses heated mainly by electricity, once per home.
How to apply, step by step
Check that the model is on Hydro-Québec's list of eligible heat pumps. Heat pumps installed on or after November 26, 2025 must be ENERGY STAR certified, and the outdoor unit needs at least 12,000 BTU/h of nominal cooling capacity.
Get a heat-loss calculation before quotes: the grant grows with capacity, but an oversized heat pump costs you comfort and efficiency.
Buy from a Quebec retailer and use a contractor registered with the Registraire des entreprises who holds the RBQ licence subclasses for the work.
Apply in the LogisVert portal (in French) within nine months of installation, with proof of ownership and the invoice. Geothermal systems and electric thermal storage work differently: the installer deducts those grants on the invoice.
Doing insulation too? Decide whether the roof work goes through LogisVert or Rénoclimat, and do it before the heat pump so the system is sized to the improved house.
The gotchas
- Heat pumps installed on or after November 26, 2025 that aren't ENERGY STAR certified get nothing; check the model number before signing.
- Replacing a single indoor or outdoor unit, replacing a heat pump after a breakdown, putting indoor units outside the insulated living space (in the attic, for example), or installing or replacing a central heat pump in a home with a geothermal system doesn't qualify.
- The roof insulation grant needs R-50 over 100% of the roof plus caulking at every listed spot (windows, doors, attic hatch, outlets and more), done by a contractor whose RBQ licence includes subclass 7.0.
- The multi-unit bonus can't be combined with the 5% multiple-measures bonus or any other Hydro-Québec or government offer.
- A grant per BTU can tempt oversizing; the CSA F280 heat-loss calculation is your defence.
Worth knowing
The measure Hydro-Québec removed on August 25, 2025 was "high-efficiency heat pump and caulking work" ($140 per 1,000 BTU/h). Roof insulation and caulking ($1,500) is still in the residential participant's guide (version 1.10, September 15, 2026). Grants can't exceed your purchase and installation cost before tax (40% for solar), and you have nine months from installation to apply. The application portal is in French only. Since Rénoclimat's October 1, 2026 overhaul both programs pay for roof insulation, and Rénoclimat's guide doesn't allow combining its aid with other Quebec or federal government aid for the same work, so check before claiming the same job twice. Hydro-Québec's page also notes that on October 8, 2026 the federal government announced heat pump funding starting in 2027; it says the details aren't known yet and that LogisVert requests are processed as usual.
Common questions
How much does LogisVert pay for a heat pump (thermopompe)?
$50 per 1,000 BTU/h of heating capacity at −8°C for an ENERGY STAR certified heat pump, or $120 for a model classified cold-climate; Hydro-Québec's page says up to $6,700. Heat pumps installed on or after November 26, 2025 must be ENERGY STAR certified, the outdoor unit needs at least 12,000 BTU/h of nominal cooling capacity, and you must buy from a Quebec retailer. Verified October 19, 2026.
Does LogisVert require an energy audit?
No. But sizing the heat pump from a CSA F280 heat-loss calculation, ideally after insulating, is what makes it perform. The grant pays either way; your comfort doesn't.
Can I still get LogisVert money for insulation?
Yes, for roof insulation with caulking: $1,500 in a house heated mainly by electricity, if the roof reaches R-50 over 100% of its area and the listed caulking is done by a contractor with the right RBQ licence. The measure that ended on August 25, 2025 was high-efficiency heat pump and caulking work. Wall, foundation and window rebates are with Rénoclimat.
What is Hydro-Québec's dual-energy (biénergie) rate?
Rate DT is for homes heated mainly by electricity with a fuel backup such as natural gas, oil, propane or wood pellets. Below −12°C or −15°C, depending on the region, the system switches to the fuel and electricity costs more; the rest of the time electricity is billed at a lower price. Hydro-Québec says Rate DT is generally cheaper than Rate D if you use the right energy at the right time, but can cost more depending on your habits. A heating contractor fills in the Certificate of Eligibility – Dual Energy, and you pay for the inspection and any changes needed.
Are there Hydro-Québec subsidies (subventions) for gas-heated homes?
Hydro-Québec's dual-energy offer lists $7,300 for Énergir customers and $6,800 for Enbridge Gaz Québec customers to add an electric central heat pump to a forced-air natural gas system in a detached, semi-detached or row house, or a condo with its own heating system. The page still names Quebec's Chauffez vert program but shows no dates, and Quebec ended Chauffez vert's aid for oil and propane conversions on March 31, 2026, so when you contact your gas distributor to apply, confirm the offer is still funded. Homes already heated by electricity aren't eligible.
