The audit question

No audit required

The program has ended; no application path exists. Audits in Saskatchewan are now purely diagnostic — and in this climate, still routinely worth the fee.

Who qualifies

No one, for the rebate. For the tax credit: owners renovating their principal residence in Saskatchewan, for expenses incurred on or after October 1, 2024, claimed on a 2025 or later tax return.

What to do instead

  1. There's nothing to apply for: the rebate ended in April 2026.

  2. Keep receipts for renovation work on your home. The Home Renovation Tax Credit is claimed on your personal income tax return.

  3. Replacing a gas furnace, boiler or water heater? Check SaskEnergy's Residential Equipment Replacement Rebate and apply within 120 days of installation.

  4. Income-qualified? Apply for SaskPower's free Energy Assistance Program; participants may then qualify for SaskEnergy's free furnace upgrade.

  5. In Saskatoon, look at the City's Home Energy Loan Program, which finances insulation, windows and heat pumps.

The gotchas

  • Any site or salesperson promising this rebate today is out of date; treat it as a screening test.
  • The tax credit is non-refundable: it reduces the provincial income tax you owe, and it tops out at $420 a year ($525 for seniors).
  • SaskEnergy's rebates are for replacement gas equipment, not heat pumps.
  • Your own labour, routine maintenance, appliances and financing costs don't count toward the tax credit.

Worth knowing

Our earlier link for this program (saskatchewan.ca) now returns "page not found"; SaskPower and SaskEnergy both confirm the rebate ended in April 2026, without giving a day. SaskEnergy's remaining residential rebates are for high-efficiency gas furnaces ($325), boilers ($750–$800) and tankless or condensing water heaters ($1,000), for replacements only, within 120 days of installation. Income-qualified households can get free upgrades through SaskPower's Energy Assistance Program, and participants may qualify for a free high-efficiency furnace through SaskEnergy's Heating Affordability Program. In Saskatoon, the City's Home Energy Loan Program lends $1,000–$40,000 (up to $60,000 with a 50% energy cut) at 2026 rates of 3.24%–4.83%, plus a $1,000 rebate toward energy audits for loan participants.

Common questions

Is the Saskatchewan Home Efficiency Retrofit Rebate still available?

No. SaskPower and SaskEnergy say it ended in April 2026, and neither lists a replacement rebate on its program pages (checked October 8, 2026).

Is there a Saskatchewan government window grant?

There's no window grant, but windows and doors are eligible expenses for the Saskatchewan Home Renovation Tax Credit: 10.5% of expenses above $1,000, up to $5,000, so at most $420 a year ($525 for seniors). It's non-refundable and claimed on your income tax return.

Is there a heat pump rebate in Saskatchewan?

Not from SaskPower or SaskEnergy as of October 8, 2026: neither lists a residential heat pump rebate. Saskatoon's Home Energy Loan Program finances cold-climate air-source and ground-source heat pumps.

Why list a dead program at all?

Because stale advertising outlives programs, and knowing a promise is dead is worth as much as knowing a program is live. A contractor citing this rebate in 2026 has told you how current the rest of their pitch is.
